Customize !!!

March 9, 2011 Leave a comment

I’m a big fan of customization. I’ve always been. It started with Windows Vista, then it was Windows Seven, not it’s OS X.

I like to have some custom elements just to make my system more personal.

In our scenario I’m going to show you how to change boot screen as I can not stand the default one:

My favorite place to find boot themes is the “Theme Park” section of the VoodooLabs site.

Just to show you how easily you can change your boot skin I’m going to use  one of the probably most beautiful themes floating around called “DTYPE” created by Enzo.

It looks really nice, so let’s apply this one.

Go ahead and grab the theme from Voodoo site or open my “AIOdownloads” folder. Copy the “DType” folder into: SnowLeopard/Extra/Themes. There should be already our default theme.

One more time open “AIOdownloads”. Find Lizard application and copy/move it to your Applications. Open the app.

Choose your skin in the “Themes” tab and click “save”. That’s it. You’ve just applied your custom boot theme.

At this point it’s good to run Disk Utility (Applications/Utilities) and repair permissions.

You may restart your computer now to see how your new theme looks like.
